External services

Weather data (DWD, Open-Meteo, etc.) is fetched by our server, not your browser — so those services never see your IP.

For the optional “your city” detection on the home page, your IP address may be sent server-side to a geolocation service (currently ip-api.com) to determine the nearest city; the result is cached per IP. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. If the local geo database is used instead, this transfer does not occur.

On pages with an interactive map or photo, however, your browser loads content directly from the following third parties, which thereby technically receive your IP address (legal basis Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest in displaying maps and images):

On pages without a map or photo these services are not contacted. Only the data technically required for delivery (notably the IP address) is transmitted; no tracking takes place.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification and erasure (Art. 15–17 GDPR). As we store no identifiable personal data, such requests are limited in practice to the server logs. Contact: kontakt@klarwetter.de. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
