About the radar data

RainViewer aggregates precipitation data from weather radar stations around the world and updates every 10 minutes. For Germany it uses data from DWD’s radar network (Leksand, Karlskrona, Vilebo, Hudiksvall and others).

The colour scale shows intensity: light blue = light rain, green = moderate rain, yellow/orange = heavy rain, red = very heavy rain or downpour.

Satellite mode shows the cloud cover from NASA’s satellite image (true-color, updated daily) — useful for seeing cloud systems across the whole country. Storm mode highlights the cities for which the weather model expects thunderstorms in the next 3 days (for live lightning see the DWD warnings). Switch between rain, storms and satellite with the buttons above the map.
